 Kaja Mixed Choir

Profile

Kaja Mixed Choir (Kaja means ‘echo’ in Estonian) was founded under the aegis of St. Petersburg Society of Estonian Culture in 1995.

The founder, leader and conductor of the choir is Nonna Matson, the organist is Sergey Varshavsky.

The choir performs spiritual, secular and folk music.

The main part of the repertory consists of songs in Estonian language.

The choir regularly performs during the worship in Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Saint John’s parish, memorial services at Levashovo Memorial Cemetery, ecumenic worship services.

Kaja gives concerts and participates in many programs and festivals in St. Petersburg, Leningrad Region, Estonia and Finland.

The choir maintains friendly relations with in on-stage performance groups in Estonia. Together with Lithuanian and Latvian choir, Kaja performs as a part of St. Petersburg Baltic Choir Balticum.

A part of the creative team is Linda ensemble.
